He has earned the trust and confidence of both myself and the Board through his proven ability to drive success for Lakapi Samoa. We firmly believe he possesses the relevant skills, experience, and vision to continue elevating Lakapi Samoa, building on the foundations already in place, and steering the organization toward even greater achievements.”

Statement from the newly appointed CEO of Lakapi Samoa, Seumanu Douglas Ngau Chun

“I am deeply grateful to the President, Chairman and the Board for this opportunity and their trust in my ability to lead Lakapi Samoa. I fully understand the weight of responsibility and the high expectations our people have for Samoan rugby. I am committed to collaborating with all our stakeholders to drive sustainable growth and success, both on and off the field.”

Seumanu hails from the villages of Salelologa and Safotu in Savai’i, as well as Taufusi and Tanumalala. A graduate of the University of the South Pacific with a Bachelor’s degree, he is happily married to Talamatavao Vaetoefaga Hinauri Leaupepe-Ngau Chun and is a proud father of two.

Lakapi Samoa also wishes to acknowledged the outgoing CEO, Faleomavaega Vincent Fepuleai. Faleomavaega’s tenure has been marked by transformational change across all facets of the National Union. Under his leadership, Lakapi Samoa has achieved significant strides in governance, financial transparency, and accountability, strengthening key partnerships with stakeholders including World Rugby, the Government of Samoa, and the Pacific Players Association.

During his time as CEO, Faleomavaega presided over a period of considerable progress, championing player welfare issues and elevating Lakapi Samoa to become the first Pacific Island Union to formalize a partnership with the Pacific Players Association. He also strengthened

relationships with Sub-Unions, coaches, match officials, and international bodies, positioning Lakapi Samoa as a trusted and influential voice with all its partners.

Statement from Chairman of Lakapi Samoa, Tuilaepa Dr. Sailele Malielegaoi

“Faleomavaega leaves Lakapi Samoa in a far stronger position than when he joined. His ability to implement reforms, gain our rightful seat at the World Rugby Council, and unite stakeholders around a common purpose has been instrumental to the Union’s recognition. His leadership has provided a solid foundation on which we will continue to build.”

Statement from Outgoing CEO, Faleomavaega Vincent Fepuleai

“It’s been a massive challenge and incredibly satisfying at the same time. It has been a privilege to work with so many talented and dedicated rugby people here and around the world. Rugby is a sport loved by all our people, and despite financial challenges and limited resources, our teams continue to punch above their weight on the international stage. I am proud of what we have achieved together as a rugby family. The time is right for new leadership, and with strong foundations in place, I am confident the sport will continue to thrive. While I will miss working day-to-day in the sport, my passion for rugby and its values will never diminish.”

Faleomavaega also extended his gratitude to the Lakapi Samoa Board, the business community, supporters, and volunteers:

“I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the Union’s journey during my time, particularly the Chairman, Hon. Tuilaepa S. Malielegaoi, for his unwavering support, vision, and leadership.”
